Terms of use
These terms apply when you use the Savings Circle apps, the web app and this website (together, “Savings Circle”). By using Savings Circle you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains what data we keep and why.
What Savings Circle is
Savings Circle is a record book for savings groups: committees, tandas, susus, chamas and similar circles. It helps an organizer keep track of members, payments, turns and payouts, and send reminders from their own messaging apps.
It is not a bank, lender, wallet or payment service. It never holds, moves or guarantees money. Members pay each other however they already do; Savings Circle only records what the organizer enters.
Who can use it
You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you use Savings Circle for an organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
Your account
- You can use the app on one phone without an account. Signing in (by email code, Google or Apple) lets us back up your groups and show them on your other devices.
- Keep access to your email and devices secure. Anyone who can sign in as you can see and change your groups.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. What happens to your data then is described in the privacy policy.
Your groups and your members
- You are responsible for the records you keep and for running your group. Savings Circle does not check whether a payment really happened.
- Only add members’ details you need to run the group, and let your members know you keep a record of them in Savings Circle.
- Your records stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Savings Circle to you.
Disputes and group decisions
Savings Circle keeps a timestamped, append-only history so everyone can see what was recorded. It does not decide disagreements between members, enforce payments or pay anyone out, and we are not a party to any agreement between the people in your group.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Savings Circle to break the law, to defraud or harass anyone, to run schemes that promise returns you can’t pay, or to interfere with the service or other people’s accounts. We may suspend or close accounts that do, and may keep the records needed to deal with abuse.
Plans and payments
Savings Circle is free for your first group. Paid plans (Pro and Group pass) are coming soon. When they launch, Google Play or the App Store will handle the purchase, and its own terms, cancellation and refund rules apply. We will show the price in the app before you buy.
Availability and backups
We work to keep Savings Circle running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. The app works offline, and you can export a backup file at any time. Keep one for records that matter to you.
Liability
Savings Circle is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from how a group is run, from payments made or not made between members, from records entered incorrectly, or from indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms as Savings Circle changes. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or on this page before it applies, and change the date at the top.
